Versatel net loss: 35 million

Dutch ISP and wannabe triple play provider Versatel presented a second quarter net loss of 35 million today. That’s up from the 0,5 million loss in the same period last year. The net loss includes some 6 million reorganisation costs regarding the take over by Tele2, the company that will become obsolete when calling will be free of charge at last.

Nice detail: Versatel now has 86.000 low margin expensive service, major technical nightmares triple play over DSL subscribers. That’s 14.000 short on the target they presented last year: 100.000 subscribers before December 1 2005. It’s August 2006 now…. hello???

In the business market, Versatel appears to be operating according to rumors that Tele2 wants out of the b-to-b market. The number of business contracts decreased with 2500.
Versatel concluded only 1 long year major IP-VPN contract to business clients. That’s less than we did with our much smaller Zoranet. We even scored direct hits against the wannabe triple play provider with total contract value (and connections) higher than the one they present. Customer selected Zoranet after extensive testing showed we had a better network, completer product at the same pricelevel. They might present small Bills, but we have a service that actually works.

Tele2 has a solution on hand to fight costs: they fire 200 people. Very nice indeed, because we are hiring. You love IP and routing? Check our vacancies.

Welcome to today’s fight of the fanatics.

In the right corner we have King David’s people in blue and white, a sophisticated democracy not recognized by many Arab leaders as a souvereign contestant and because of that not a full member to the United Nations. Meaning: no voting rights. Main strengths: really good intelligence, smart weapons and the beans to pay for ‘m.

To the left we have the holy streetfighters, a gang that worships death and martyrdom. It’s heavily backed by the oil industry from the Muslim republic that doesn’t respect basic Human Rights and tries to produce atomic weapons and because of that probably is a member of the United Nations commission on Disarmament. Joy! The gang’s main strengths: hide amongst innocent people, fire unguided obsolete weaponry in great numbers at civilian areas and play victim.

Why is it that everyone blames Israel in this war? They at least try to minimize civilian casualties, while Hizbollah aims at killing them. I mean, if Israel really wanted to make casualties, they would use cheap bombs and just flatten complete neighborhoods (remember Dresden, Coventry or Rotterdam). Or even use really destructive material like phosphor or one of their 200 nukes. But they don’t. They choose to pay a hell of a lot of money for smart ordenance and that really is the best a democracy can do while being under attack. How can someone be blamed for trying to prevent innocent victims, while the other once gets away with not trying at all? Get real folks. Get the facts!

And a message to the bearded peeps in the green/yellow: you ain’t seen nothing yet. Just wait until Israel unleashes its Russian immigrants, most of them heavily experienced in not-so-quiet-areas like Afghanistan and Chechnya and within the not-so-unexperienced Israeli army with great respect referred to as the “Chechnya Snipers”. Shalom and goodbye!

ReutersPhotographer Adnan Hajj and his 920 pictures have been removed from Reuters and the photoarchives of the news giant. Reason: Hajj used manipulation software to change the contents of the pictures. In both cases he tried to present the situation in Beirut more fierce and grimm than it already is. He expanded smoke and made it blacker and tried to have Israel look as being the bad guy. Exit he is.

Which marketing fetishist runs communications at those major printer pimps known as Epson, HP and Lexmark? From the faq’s:

Error code: Jam A.

Meaning: paper jam in section A.

What to do: although trays have a theoretical capacity of 250 sheets, it’s often better to insert 200-220 sheets.

Rrrrrriiiiiiggggghhhhtttt …..

Very convenient, especially since paper packs normally contain 250 sheets. What kind of conspriracy against efficiency is this?

Apple’s marketing department went into overdrive for the WWDC 2006, the biggest Apple conference for developers that starts today.

How about: Mac OS X Leopard, Introducing Vista 2.0.

And the other one being the Terminator quote: Hasta la Vista, Vista!

Is going to be interesting to see ‘m head on.

In beta still, version 0,16, but it certainly looks promising. They call it ‘Tables’ and the beta appears to be free. It’s also the first time I encounter a website on a .EU domain.
